New to Online - Here's what you need to know

Some of the community may be new to the online tournament scene. We've gathered a lot of the necessary information which you may need for the online player experience.
  • Make sure to test your connection in advance. A stable connection goes a long way and it's recommended to test things in advance as to not slow down the progression of the tournament. You are always able to dm a tournament organzier or judge and they'll gladly give you pointers on your setup
  • Your space should have enough room where you can comfortably space out your play area
  • Make sure your camera is setup in a way which displays your entire field
  • Your hand must be visable at all times. This doesn't mean cards in your hand are visible so that your opponent can see them. This may result in a warning and you'll be asked to readjust your setup. The picture below is the optimal way to show your hand is in the camera view
  • Players must clearly communicate as they would in an in-person tournament setting
  • Avoid outside interference. Players are not allowed to communicate with anyone outside of their opponent or tournament staff. If a player is streaming, they're not allowed to communicate with the chat. Falure to comply will lead to harsh penalties
  • It is more difficult to cut a players deck. So a way around this for the online environment is to ask your opponent how many cards to place at the bottom of their deck when shuffling occures.
  • If a card allows control of a card to change, players should have blank sheets of paper in the form of a card ready.
  • There are certain penalties associated to issues in connectivity. This is given out to ensure the integrity of the event is maintained. Disconnects or frozen videos may lead to game losses. This will be at the discression of the judge staff
We hope that this answers the majority of your questions. Players may ask the tournament organizer or judge staff additional questions at any moment via our discord server.

How to maneuver our discord server

When it comes to tournament day, we have a section of the Discord Server that's dedicated to the tournament. Here's a breakdown of what to expect from the Server:
  • #judge-please: This section if dedicated if a player has any questions which requires a judge to answer such as rulings, connectivity issues, etc.
  • #match-results: This is where players will indicate who won their match for the round. Players need to respond with their irl name, table number and their score
  • #pairings: We will have online pairings for this event. A link will be provided each round and players will be made aware once they go live
  • #please-drop-me: If a player wishes to drop from an event, they must indicate their intent in this section of the server
  • #timer: This section is where staff will post a round timer such that players can refer to during every round
  • #tournament-announcements: This section is where the tournament organizer or staff will post announcements related to the tournament
  • #tournament-chat: This section is where players can communicate with other players participating in the event
